Present Continuous

USE: Expresa lo que está ocurriendo en el momento de hablar.
          Se puede utilizar para hablar sobre un futuro muy cercano y planeado

FORM:

Affirmative: subject + verb to be (am/is/are) + verb with -ing

I am writing now (Yo estoy escribiendo ahora)
You are writing now (tú estás escribiendo ahora)
He is writing now  (él está escribiendo ahora)
She is writing now (ella está escribiendo ahora)
It is writing now (ello está escribiendo ahora)
We are writing now (nosotros estamos escribiendo ahora)
You are writing now (vosotros estais escribiendo ahora)
They are writing now (ellos están escribiendo ahora)

En los siguientes casos hay que fijarse en estas reglas ortográficas para añadir -ing:

- Si el verbo acaba en -e (muda) se pierde la e

   Ex. dance - dancing


- Si el verbo es de una sílaba y acaba en una vocal + una consonante, se dobla esta consonante

   Ex. put - putting


- Si el verbo es de dos sílabas y tiene el acento en la última, se dobla la última consonante

   Ex. begin - beginning


- Si acaba en -l se dobla esta letra

   Ex. travel -travelling


- Si acaba en -ie, se cambia ie por y

   Ex. lie - lying


Negative: subject + verb to be (in negative: am not / isn't / aren't) + verb with -ing
               Ex. We aren't watching TV

Interrogative: verb to be (am/ is / are) + subject + verb with -ing
                     Ex. Is he studying now? Yes, he is / No he isn't
                           Are you reading? Yes, I am / No. I'm not

• El Present Continuous se suele usar con las siguientes expresiones temporales:

                 Now, right now, at the moment, today, these days
